NE South Dakota Clark, SD | Running straight up the hills is not a good idea unless your hills are .03-.1 like the RRV of ND and the Black Swamp of NW OH. Running with the contour or at least at an angle to it is best. Many people will run straight up because it is the easiest way. Like most things in life the easiest is usually the best. As water flows underground down the hill, it will flow between the tile lines. On the contour or at an angle to it, has a much better chance of intercepting the water.
