Coles County, Illinois | Dad had 3 different 4230's. First one was the strongest as it has a turbo system off a 4320 we pulled a 4-18 with it and had it weighted down to 17,000#. We had another with an M&W turbo system on it. The M&W made the tractor a lot better on fuel consumption but if you really tired to use the extra HP, the Pryro got to 1300 degrees quick. I don't think the exhaust manifold was heavy enough to dissipate the heat.
The third never got a turbo on it and we never used it for tillage.
The real issue with 4230/4040 is the radiators aren't big enough to cool these tractors unless it really cold outside and you have to keep them in tip-top shape. If you want a strong 4230 turbo, buy a 4440. | |
