Subject: RE: Solar panel on hog barn?? Some actual numbers

Driftless SW Wisconsin

I've suggested that we have a nationwide grid of high voltage transmission lines running east-west and north-south along the existing interstate highway right of ways. Sort of like an energy interstate system which would cover the country pretty well. Few people would have a line going through their back yard nor have to live in a high voltage field.

This would avoid the "not on my farm" issue and could be run like a toll road: folks putting energy into the grid get paid for putting energy into the system, utilities using it get charged for the energy they take out which includes a couple percent for system maintenance. At exit points the system could connect to existing local grids.

Imho this would be useful infrastructure for the future.

Thank you for the kind words.
