Sac & Story county IA
That is an awfully good essay about a lot of things. Thank you for writing it.
A power company does need to have equipment and manpower ready when a tree falls on a line or any of 100 other problems that happen.
A lot of guys have been talked into things by bin dealers, get government grants to pay for it. Then power company comes along with demand charge. Surprise, surprise.

I go to some classes at Iowa State for old guys - no tests. One professor was explaining the Elon Musk battery system. He was of the opinion that if Iowa had a year and a third of that factories production, Iowa would not need any power but the wind turbines already operating. My question is what will come along and be better than those batteries? Everything gets obsolete.

Another professor had a grant to draw out what power lines the country needs. There sure is a lot of public resistance. Not across my farm.
