johnny skeptical - 4/3/2018 11:49 You don’t understand net metering. Not really a upwind area to a hog barn. - What is it I don't understand about net metering? I've been doing it for about 5 years now, what have I missed? - A ground mount would get around the roof top corrosion of a hog barn. Dust is not a major problem unless it gets very heavy and blocks most sunlight. At a 37 degree angle as pictured above the wind and rain keep the panels clear enough to do their job. The only thing that is a problem is snow in the winter. That just has to be broomed off if the panels are accessible. Our local REC has 2 large solar farms of its own. They are in ag areas. The angle tends to shed dirt etc, the black color absorbs heat from the sun and melts snow and ice when there is enough sun to be worth capturing. My hay shed roof-top installation is not readily accessible so it just waits until the sun melts the snow or wind blows it off. Using Micro inverters (rather than a central inverter) allows the rest of the panels to generate power normally even if one or a couple are still snow covered. |
