Saranac, Michigan | When people talk about burning trees I think about a large contractor here that was clearing for a road job. At that time pretty much all clearing was done with dozers. You tried to get the pile as tight as possible.
Anyway one of the owners was walking around a burn pile when enough of the tops burned off and the trunk cut loose. They said it looked like a bat hitting a ball. It didn’t kill him but he was pretty bad off for a couple of years. He died and that was pretty much the end of the company. In his lifetime he had probably got away with it many times.
I think we all have had some kind of problems with burn piles. Some are just worse than others. | |
