Subject: RE: Back furrow, head lands

Chebanse, IL.....

"Here"

That first pass was known as a "back-furrow".

The end rows of that field, or any farm field was known as a "headland".

Luckily we have lots of kids getting back into recreational plowing (aka plow days) now so the practice won't totally die. I figured it would 30 yrs ago, but we surprise ourselves now.

If you ever get the chance to participate in a plow day....GO! You might have to borrow a plow or just borrow a ride for a few rounds. It is much more fun now than then.
