I have a 90 horse four cylinder that is 30 years old that we were skeptical about. The dealer let us demo for a week and it never left. The three cylinder has the same displacement as my four cylinder. Emission are the driver in reducing the number of cylinders along with operating full rpm. It also allows for less overhang on the front.
