1990 through 2006 were not exactly prosperous years for grain farmers. Had it not been for LDP's many would not have survived. I would call LDPs a subsidy wouldn't you? We have made a lot more money since ethanol came on the scene and the government has not paid out one dollar in LDPs since the inception of ethanol. The only ones hurt by ethanol were livestock producers who had grown used to having the luxury of buying grain for below cost of production.
