I pull the strap out of the ratchet each time and roll the strap around the hook in a nice tight circle, then when it is time to strap the next load it is easy to throw over. I am not picky about a lot of things, but I am when it comes to this. I hate it when people borrow my trailer and roll the straps around the ratchet.
