I think ethanol is a no-brainer. Keeps demand for our corn, keeps our cars moving, gives big oil a little competition, and can still feed livestock with byproducts. As far as driving land costs and other inputs up for new farmers from what I can see the only young people that want to farm are the ones that grew up on the farm. For most of them they can take over already existing operations. Most of the young people now days don't want to do any manual labor and figure everything should be handed to them on a silver platter. At most they want to go to town and work their 8-5 and have weekends off.
As far as wind energy goes.....just had a bunch of windmills go up about 15 miles from me. Not cheap and was crazy for about a year. Ethanol has my vote.
