I live in the middle of a wind farm. They are far from maintenance free. They occasionally have giant cranes running around here taking complete hub and blade assemblies down for repairs.

I haven't seen a balance sheet but if they produce for 50 years I don't see how they can begin to replace the energy in the form if diesel fuel that was spent constructing them.

And it's not a "pad" of concrete. Some of those holes are 30-40 feet deep with 50 loads of concrete in them.
