johnny skeptical - 3/18/2018 07:04 but I think , and saying this as a corn farmer , ethanol has ben responsible for the high rents, high land prices, high inputs and high machinery as every corn farmer wanted that elusive big corn yield and price

I would disagree with ethanol being the cause of high prices. I would say that it was mainly weather. We had 3 years in a row with less then idea weather in 2010 through 2012. The corn acres had increased a fair amount during those years because of ethanol but it was the low yields that drove the price up to $7.00. If we would of had average weather when ethanol was expanding I think $4.00 or $4.50 corn would of encouraged enough acres.
