Subject: Defending wind.

Okay well it does CREATE JOBS!!

Lol..

ever seen a wind turbine catch on fire..

( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5COAi6KM8o )

So you plant a couple 100,000 + of these.. and you stop doing maintenence..??

WHEN is THIS going to occur?

However it has it's place.. well maintained.. you are trading BTU's.. would you prefer to build a MULTI BILLION Drilling Rig to go drill in the Gulf of Mexico.. through Hurricane's with the occasional blow out.. like the Deepwater Horizon?

everything is a trade off..

Shale fracking = earthquakes
Wind Farms = maintence.. see above
Solar = are you going to panel over a couple of counties/states.. who is going to clean it when you blow a little dust across it?  lol..
Ethanol..??  etc..
Hydro = dams..
Coal = Global Warming..
Nat Gas = pipelines and fracking
OPEC = 5th fleet to protect.. the occasional resource wars..
Nuclear = Chernobyl.. Fukujima.. et all

All have issues..

I do not believe it is wise to be 100% reliant on any of them.

Back to the Wind farms.. Imagine one of these.. over a mature wheat field.. in the winds we had this week..

( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjnXpOMu09I )

uhm.. that hasn't happened yet.. but.. if a turbine brake fails.. and they will.. 100% GOING TO HAPPEN some day.. as they wear..  THAT is ALot of force.. yes they can turn the blades.. but still the bigger they get to harness the wind.. the bigger the challenge to stop it in high winds also.
