S KY
1348-12 fixed knot with a 14 gauge HT barb over top on 2-1/2" galv pipe line posts 16' on center with 4" welded braces........Around $4.50/ft.

842-12 fixed knot with a hot wire on top with the same posts, but with 25' spacing........Around $3.50/ft.

Good wood posts cost the same. Cheap wood posts only save money until you have to rebuild it in a few years. Steel and wood are both going up at a rapid pace, so I'd look for contractors to raise labor rates to match. Just a year ago, we were about $.75/ft cheaper on average than we are today.

The pros for fixed knot woven are cost efficiency if you stretch it tight and space line posts out, ease of installation, longevity. The cons....If you are really into tracking down a short in your hot wire, you won't get to do it anymore.
