Walnut trees are pretty valuable here, along with nice oak trees. Not sure how values have held up through the ecnomic downturn, though. I know at one time, a good walnut log could bring $2-300. The state of Iowa has foresters that will come out and evaluate your stand. Not sure if IL has similar programs.
