Previous thread on the Safeplast product.

Installed the Safeplast product I got from Amazon on some hydraulic hoses.

Very tough stuff, thicker than the black poly pipe samples I cut and has a beveled cut edge on the spirals. Warming it up did not seem to make much difference in bend ability or ease of installation. For fixed lines already in place it's time consuming and hard on fingers getting it spread and wrapped around. I maybe should have had a larger size but it bound two 1/2" hydraulic hoses tightly together. It seems to flex and bend around corners pretty easily and has good support across short spans. Hard on fingers to keep the spirals pushed tightly together though.

I would have liked to use some of the poly I spiral cut myself but still waiting for local Menards to get 100 ft rolls of it in stock for spring and waiting on 11% off sale to boot. I think it would have been easier to install and maybe a bit more manageable but perhaps not as abrasion resistant ?

Reason for using this was to protect hoses from sawing on sharp hopper edge.

Also to protect crossing over sharp edged hopper supports underneath between clamps.

It also supports the hoses across a short span.

The hoses to the tractor was just to use up the rest of it and test its abrasion resistance longer term.

It would work better on uninstalled hoses as it would be easier to chase the roll around and around the hoses. An extra set of hands would have sped things up as well. Could not really cut to length for different sections as it took more to go around 2 hoses than just the obvious length needed.

I'd use it again for areas needing maximum abrasion resistance but will be anxious to try the home grown solution as well.
