Subject: Why do we need the rfs?

Southwest Missouri
Maybe I am young and stupid but why do we really need the rfs? If ethanol really is the cheapest form of energy, companies that are producing ethanol should be able to be more profitable and either run the others out of business or force them to start producing ethanol. Does anyone here know of a farmer that went out of business on purpose just to prove a point about the farming industry. Every farmer and individual business owner I know has a goal to make as much money as possible. Someone also mentioned that they should ban crude oil exports. With that logic of thinking maybe we should ban corn and soybean exports because we could have cheaper food and energy prices if we would not sell to other country's. I don't know of another private industry that gets more government subsidies than grain crop farming other than maybe the renewable energy which also involves ethanol. I don't know of another industry that can get insurance protection for 85 percent of expected revenue. I am free market capitalist and I wish the government would totally get out of agriculture and let us either sink or swim on our own.
