For me this is the beauty of Ag Talk and the Internet.

So many things come up for everyone in life. Without this medium to share things you simply could not learn all of it or trial and error enough things on your own to learn new ideas, methods and solutions.

By searching the web and seeing various things and getting ideas you can often come up with a modification or the ability to do something once you realize it's even possible.

I've used PVC pipe for a lot of years and never realized you could heat it and release the glue like this. I always thought the solvent glue softened and dissolved the material to the point it permanently fused the material together much like welding steel. I would have never imagined that by adding some heat you could actually release the bond and have a fitting that could actually be reused.

Sharing here and adding the pictures and descriptions help to illustrate what is going on and can be shared with anyone in the world.  I would hope ideas like this are being shared in FFA and shop classes to give kids some practical real world ideas and help them become better problem solvers.

I share your frustration with common core even thought I have no kids of my own.

Thanks again for your kind words.

I enjoy sharing things like this and hope others find them useful as well.
