I had a 7200 with Martins and it also had the insecticide with the difusers.  They did not touch each other on mine.  But mine may have been a different year than yours.

If I recall correctly, there are some shims that go on the shafts to set the spaders out so that they are not too close to the seed trench.  I think the instructions for the spaders told the measurement.  If they are set too close, they can disturb the seed (and may very well hit the diffusers).

It has been several years since I did this, and my memory may be getting fuzzy, but this is what I would check.
