Subject: RE: Farm umbrella insurance.unfortunate necessary evil..

Kittitas Co. Wa. State

I've got an umbrella policy, covers buildings, all equipment, liability, ecology (chem, fuel spills) equipment foreign object ingestion, fire, theft, a rider that covers any equipment I may have to rent, (I just call in and the equip is added onto the policy till I call and cancel the rider)  damage to any equipment when NOT on the property. (say neighbor borrows tractor,, and some idiot runs into him on the road.. or if I'm driving on the road with equipment and some MORON hits the equipment I'm driving... or equip is damaged/destroyed while physically NOT on the property) Spray drift,, just so I don't have to buy damn orchard trees....

Covers everything I might do that's stupid, anything anybody else might do that's stupid, whether they work for me or are just on the property, including dumb@$$ tresspassers who might get hurt for whatever ignorant thing they may do..

The Liability is the heavy part of the insurance...I'm covered waaaaayyyy on the north side of 1 mil.....

The full package premium costs about $10 bucks per acre.  Not cheap,, but I don't want to pay full bore for somebody's stupidity.. so I pay the insurance premium.... (yes I checked around,, that price is about the same whoever I would buy insurance from..)

In a lawsuit over some ignormaous getting hurt on your property ,, even if you "win" the suit,, you still gotta pay several appendages to the Attorney...........
