Leesburg, Ohio | Really nice wagon and excellent workmanship, Von.
Your design (or the co-op design) is almost identical to two wagons I built about 15 or 20 years ago for the same purpose. Mine are on the same J&M gears that you have, and carried 1500 gallon tanks. I used two salvaged steel I-beams for support on each wagon, rough-sawn 2x8 oak planks painted with creosote on all sides for flooring with a gap between boards, and angle iron around the edges just like yours. Mine are 18' long, and were designed to double as hay wagons carrying 155 bales each after planting season was over and the tanks came off. Still using the wagons for hay (mainly round bales now, 8 at time on each wagon) and the oak floors are needing replaced (setting outside the last few years). Running gears and bed frames still look almost new. | |
