I'd just settle for one building big enough to get some larger things inside with all the tools/parts in the same place. Older converted barns are used for machinery storage and are pretty much packed full with little room to do anything else.

One building is mainly shelves and spare parts storage on one side and few tools like drill press, bead blaster, chop saw, parts washer, grinder etc. on the other of what used to be garage area. Can work on a few smaller items inside like this.

Back side of this building has small workshop area with lots more shelves, bins workbench, tools and air compressor. But the bulk of the work gets done in the wide open "air shop" out front.
Few other places I am able to sort of work on things inside usually with a Knipco providing heat when it's not bitterly cold. Like re-blading planter or drill and similar work but the drawback is all the tools have to be hauled out to building from another smaller building then all hauled back when finished.
Other small building would be considered a small tool room in most large shops.
I'd post more but don't want to share all the pics of it publicly. It would be great to have a nice large heated building big enough to actually get things in and work on in a heated space with all tools and parts available right there. I'm not sure that will ever happen "here" with the now high property tax valuations on existing buildings. Another new building would send them up even more. I see more value in adding things like tile and other improvements or enhancements that will add value and return or save more than just the "want" of a nice big shop. I don't think I have the scale to justify that sort of build and am getting to an age I don't wish to go in to debt either. I'm sort of stuck at the limit on storage and shed space for the machinery I have now. Newer bigger stuff also would require a bigger building to house it and not sure that all makes any sense in the current environment. I'm probably the last of my kind and have no children of my own to take over. The goal is to leave my niece and nephew a legacy that they can hopefully appreciate all the sacrifices that have been made to preserve it for them by myself and all those who came before us, that has been well maintained so they don't bear those expenses, and will continue to be something that provides them return for generations to come.
