Iowa | Assuming your main door will be in the middle of the end wall. You may consider putting a smaller door on the wall to the left of it.
That way you back your header on the cart in the smaller side door then bring the combine in the bigger one and pick it up and then get the cart out of there.
Having that other door might come in handy anyway.
An A frame hoist would be nice to use anywhere in the shop then if you have a pad in front of the shop you could roll it outside off to the side of the door when not in use. There great when you need them but are in the way when you don't.
I wouldn't worry to much about being able to have the tractor/trailer in as a unit. Our grain trailer is one of the least needy items for repairs we have and I just get the trailer inside/hook it up to shop air and have a 12v battery with toogle switches and cord to work on lights if need be. Very rarely do I need the tractor hooked up for repairs.
It would be nice you have the cold storage right next to put all the inessentials in like the parts bins/steel racks/etc. to save your heated floor space.
In my opinion the skill of the man inside pulling the wrenches is of far greater value than the size of the shop. | |
