Subject: RE: Fendt or Challenger

I own a 1038 & 1042 Challengers. As I have stated in past post: they are the best tractors I have owned. I have over 900 hours on my 1038 and 1200 hours on my 1042. They have been trouble free. The CVT is perfect; combined with the MAN engine . The Man engine reaches full torque at 1000 rpm's. We cultivated cotton all summer at 6.5 mph and running 1050-1100 rpms. We go 4 days on a tank of fuel at those low rpms. The Man engine is the quietest diesel engine I have ever been around. No high & low on the CVT; just engage direction and go. MFD auto engages without touching a button. No fan belts.

My 1042 outpulled my 25 shank parabolic deep ripper by 1 mph compared to my 775E track machine. The 1000 series puts the power to the ground without any power hop. Amazingly smooth , quiet running tractors. The lower RPMs will add much to the longevity of the tractor.

This tractor is 10 years ahead of the competition of any other color.

I am running 480 80 38's on the front instead of the narrow 42's .
