Floyd County, Iowa | Well, I now have a "Protect-a-Von" in my shop.
Took longer to round up the stuff to make it than it did to actually make it.
I didn't have an expandable rubber plug in the shop to drive it, so I used a 1/2" drive socket. Picked one that fit the water line (in my case it was a 3/4 deep well) and pushed it into the water line.
Then used a hose clamp to tighten it in. Don't have a 1/2" drive insert for a drill, so I used electric impact wrench to turn it.
Worked well enough, but I think the drill will work more smoothly. Could turn it by hand easily enough (you need a glove on the pushing hand), but faster with power.
I even tried it on an old chunk of garden hose. It cut it fine, but I don't think the hose is decent material for protecting anything, but it did "spiralize" it.
Thanks Von! | |
