Hi David. Funny you should mention the vertical till tool. You may have missed the previous thread, not sure, so.... http://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=90338&posts=9&... I'm starting to find out the value of this vertical tool in our area. Made some great observations over on the wheat on wheat field. But anyway, I could'nt wait till the rest of the fert tips show up, so I put on together today to confirm my depth control measurements. I'm looking forward to using this tool this spring.

Had to paint the parts, so I used a couple buckets to dip them.

I think you did the right thing planting shallow. All my winter wheat that was planted deep has perished. I have even noticed that the shallow stuff is further along in maturity than the medium planted depth. Lots of new stuff to learn with this no-till thing.

We should wake Orin up someday and go to lunch. Maybe even bring Bruce along.
