I also believe that Massey/Challenger have a battery disconnect built in. When I mentioned to the local MF dealer I planned on putting a maintainer on battery, he said "go strait to battery terminals, there is an internal battery disconnect".
Also, can a grid heater burn out if you hold on too long?
