Subject: RE: allis chalmers wc, wd ,wd45

I am by no means an expert, I never farmed with any of them. My Dad had a 1934 or 35 WC (first one in the area with rubber tires) so I as a collector found one similar. The older before around 1940 or before were unstyled, after about 1940 they were styled, still had hand brakes etc. My guess is that about 1947 the WD's were introduced, they had the hand clutch so that the tractor could be stopped and the PTO could continue running. This was particularly useful for the AC round baler. About 1953 the WD45's were introduced we have a late WD that my faher in law bought about that time. The 45's had some inhancements in the hitch mecanism, more horsepower and probably a few other things that I am not aware of. The WD45 was available as a diesel at least in the later years.

As I never really farmed with one my main negative comment is that these tractors were a beast to get on and off, could be my 70+ years are catching up with me.

Please don't hold me to these years exactly, I could easily be off a little one way or the other.
