Hook the positive clamp on the starter stud where the positive cable coming from the battery is bolted on then put the negative clamp on the negative battery terminal or a bolt head or something on the step/ frame and set charger on 12 volts







All correct except on a 4650 series JD DO NOT connect the negative jumper clamp to the left battery negative battery post, doing so would put a 12V boost across the left 6V battery and may cause a battery explosion. Ground the 12V jumper to engine or tractor chassis.


I'd would say it will cause an explosion. It wasn't me but I've seen it. Our 4650 now has two 12v group 31 batteries in it. No more boosting it. Best thing we ever did to it for starting.
