Southwest Illinois | Seems like John Deere sells the majority of their cultivators with floating hitches, even in the flat ground areas. Wil-Rich had them years ago but they never gained much traction around here. Seems like all the manufacturers have jumped on the floating hitch bandwagon. They certainly add some cost to them and wondering if they are worth it. We have some terraces but most of our ground is flat to gently rolling. The only issue we have ever had with our Tigemate is in rougher ground, like cornstalks that have been ripped or disced with lots of exposed root balls, is when you get to that 7mph speed you can get some wing bounce even with the guage wheels out front. Just wondering if a true floating hitch will allow the machine to work at higher speeds without wanting to bounce. Obviously in unworked ground or worked bean stubble it probably isn't an issue because those fields usually work down pretty level even with a ripper. | |
