This bitter cold has the DEF freezing on our NH T7.170 . Our NH service guy says this particular engine model (Tier IV Class A) does not have a DEF heat mechanism like the Class B engine. We use this tractor to remove snow (due to front end loader and scrapper).
Other comments
- Barn/Shed is not heated.
- Does anyone made/sell a temporary heating blanket/wrap to go around the DEF Tank?
- I know some places offer DEF deletes. Who is best?
- Any ideas appreciated

Thank you.

There is a heater in the DEF tank, every CNH tractor has one. There is a heating coil that surrounds the DEF suction tube in the tank, once heat builds in the engine it should thaw the DEF surrounding the suction tube enough to flow. If not getting heat the WABCO could be faulty. Along with the software updates to extend cold operation before derate due to lack of DEF flow it was also recommended to advance engine speed to 1500 RPM at startup and to use a short hydraulic hose looped at a remote valve to add a hydraulic load to aid in engine warmup and gets the hydraulic fluid and system heated quicker which is a help when it's frigid out.
