Def freezing and not working is/was a common problem on those tractors in cold climates. A software update did help a lot but didn't completely cure the problem with them in cold weather. If it was above the cut off temp for using def and you had a wind blowing on the tank it wouldn't thaw it out but engine was calling for it and still derated engine.
