How about a gear reduction starter, will that help?
My 6400 doesnt crank that slow, and you have less cylinders to hear each revolution than you do on a 6 or an 8 cylinder so it sounds slow turning over.
DIESELS.......... Cold starting issues have been an issue with diesel as long as I can remember in tractors but they keep getting better all the time!(for the most aport)
I figure if I wanted a real cold weather starter Id get out my dads M international that I converted to 12 volts and put #10 oil in it and it will start outside at -30f most times as long as the distributer is dry and the battery is good. But, brrrr.....I sure froze myself a lot on that thing in my lifetime though....(:
.
If its built like my 6400 I sure dont want to be the one changeing the starter in the cold wind and snow...... its about the f%^&*ugliest place to get to the bottom starter bolt even though you can stand there comfortably and work on it....... just no room in there..dumb dumb dumb location for it under the rail
