I never charge by capacity / weight any more, especially on systems converted from R12 to R134a, I charge by vent temperature.
1/2 charge then add more slowly, a few oz at a time until vent temps stop dropping with blower on high and ac set at max. This seems to be the ideal compromise between cooling capacity and high side pressures. usually ends up about 26-28 psi on the low side and 2-2-1/2 times air temp on the high side.
