We’ve been doing it for several years. As long as he hasn’t been exposed to females you should be fine. There was one year we could taste a little bull right next to the bone on a T-bone steak, but it was very minimal, you basically had to chew on the bone to notice.
Weight hasn’t really been an issue with us. We have had some go 1,300-1,500 lbs. I think age can be an issue however if you get much over the 1.5-2 year range.
We actually prefer bulls as they seem to have better growth and marbling.
