Just did this a couple weeks ago. Original barn is 30x40x16 with 4/12 pitch roof. Open front and faces south. Added a 20’ wide lean-to with 3/12 pitch to add height at the end wall. Worked out awesome.

Edit: first two pics are from December 2013. Then lean-to is from December 2017. Boy do things change!
