Local parts guy told me that the filters were the same internally, one is dished more in where it screws on to the base, the center pipe on the base sticks up further. We got a different piece(from JD) for the filter base so we can use all the same filters. CRS, I don't remember which way was which or which engine we had to change the threaded part on.

You can probably extend your drain intervals, only way to know for sure is oil analysis.
