farmland indiana | What I did was bought two gilts from a local show pig guy who really knows his stuff. After the fair it goes back to his farm. Than after he farrows we get first and third pick. I just make sure the kids pick out one gilt a piece so the system keeps working. If the kids work hard plus do the jobs they are asked to do and if they do things they see need done before I have to tell them I pay for 2/3 of the feed. I will have to say I paid to much for a couple good gilts the first year. But I figured over 10 years 1500 was a good deal because I get two a year per gilt. | |
