Olivetroad or anyone: on those small payloaders is there any vertical oscillation on the front axle or are they all rigid/in one plane as a skid steer? How is that small size on snow, ice and uneven rough ground? in mud?
Every wheel loader I have ever seen has the front axle fixed to the loader frame. Most oscillate at the rear axle, and I have an old swinger loader that oscillates at the articulation joint. None are fixed frame like a skid steer, you’d always be lifting and spinning a wheel.
Yep, like Ben says - the front axle is fixed to the frame, and the rear one oscillates some. Its about like a old versy 4x4 tractor, you can get it up on three wheels, but you have to be turning while crossing a terrace or something related. It rides a lot better in rough ground than a skid loader. What is amazing is the ride control button. I don't know how it works, but if you are carrying a load, it just evens everything out so you don't get to bouncing. Its very nice on the road in high gear.
We love this little machine. I've been carrying two silage bales at the same time that weigh 2500 pounds each. We used to have a W14 Case, and we can get more done with this little spunky thing than we did with the bigger one.
My 88 year old uncle keeps stealing it to load logs.
