Subject: RE: Prolapse

Northern Minnesota

buckmaster - 12/24/2017 14:20 I have never seen a cow have a uterine prolapse a month before they calve. That would really be something

Neither have I.  And it certainly would be something!!!

But a "prolapse" simply refers to a body part or organ that is out of place.  And I have seen threads go on and on where that term alone is applied to "uterine" and "vaginal" interchangeably, without specifying which, and the discussion is meaningless at best and confusing and miss-guiding at worse, since management of each is VERY different.

At least this poster gave us a hint, and some caught it!  But why not be more precise.  Eyelids can prolapse.  So can eyeballs.  Heart valves too.  And ever seen an anal prolapse?  Happens!  The word prolapse ALONE doesn't tell us what the OP's specific concern is.
