Beresford, SD | 2017 ended up being one of the better years feeding in my 20+ year career, but I agree 2018 makes my gut churn. Got about 1/2 my calves laid in off two ranch deals and the fed board today sure don’t give me much for my feed. To get .80 cents a pound for the gain I need around 1.18 next Oct. which would give me a decent margin. .65 cents would be break even and you don’t pay many bills breaking even!
