N is easier to service has better bearings. 6000 bales no issues except for the belts took 500 plus bales to season. Pita when they twist up.

If you're having problems with belts twisting on a new baler run the chamber pressure as low as possible for the first 50 bales. Then slowly increase the pressure every 5 or so bales and you'll never twist a belt. That was the suggestion I got from my dealer when I broke in my new 605N this summer. The new paint inside the chamber causes the bale to bind up and twist belts. I run a 605SM and a 605N and they are both great machines. The 605SM has close to 10,000 bales with no failed bearings.
