red river valley se of fargo | I had some stray voltage issues last winter and was consulting with a vet that is something of an area expert on stray voltage. Anyway his suggestion for measuring stray voltage was take a tester that reads milliamps and put the positive in the water and put the ground in various places on the ground where the cattle would stand while drinking. If I remember correctly he said anything over about 1.5 milliamps would affect the cattle. As far as shutting the power off and watching behavior, I don't think that'll work. Once the cattle are conditioned to the water being charged they might not ever use it "normally". I had a group that flat refused to drink from a fountain if any other option was available. |
