Idk. My calculator says become as vertical as possible. The fewer owners of a calf equals better margins over the long haul.......if your interested I’ll take $2200/hd. for my bred heifers..... Joking.
Turned 10 % of my corn acres into cereal rye and bought a pot load of solid mouth cows for $890. Costing 55 cents a day to keep. Bet you can get $1800 for those bred heifers this February. Just not from me.
Not saying you paid to much for your cattle, just saying not much to be proud of. They guy that raised them should be proud, you just wrote a check. Not meant to belittle in any way.

My guess is you will sell young cows / bred heifers. And replace them with more heifers mixed with a bull.
Where are your calves coming from 5 head????We put together some local here and would match up to some top end ones-about same price-markets are a fickle
