Well, I've got to use something to figure feeder price. Using local sale barn price and USDA reports shows what's happened in the past, not the future. So unless someone has a better solution, it's all we've got. I can adjust basis to make the feeder index more realistic.
lot better off using fat cattle board as the feeder board has about zero numbers of traders-I think there's some insurance programs based off feeders -seems like poor at its best-
feeders are always based off fat price basicly though for some odd reason there not realistic some days-do you finish them out in your slat building or sell as feeders? |
