Depending on how well the ration has been balanced, the DDGs could be part of the problem. The higher sulfur level in DDGs can not only cause brainers in feedlot animals, but the sulfur can also tie up other important trace minerals and can cause immunity issues in the calves. In lighter calves we use a combination of SBM and DDGs, watching both the sulfur and the phosphorus levels from the DDGs.
