I've owned a couple of them in a feedmill I bought a few years back.
They are easy to operate once you get your mix adjusted to make a good pellet. Then it's just a matter of sit back and let it run.
I'm a fan of the pellet process but you need to have a cooler and storage with a fan right after they are made. Also a boiler is required and the arrangement for continous operation will include some conveyors and maybe a leg. Augers aren't good unless the pellet is cooled and hardened a bit.
When you shut down the mill you need to fill it with peanut hulls or cotton seed hulls to keep it from plugging the next time you start up. There are a couple of tricks to getting the mix to pelletize properly such as using bentonite. It's best to find someone with experience to help you learn what it takes to make a good pellet. |
