N FLA | A lot of people believe you use a cows body to raise a big calf on the natural forages available. Then a dry cow will gain weight readily on the lower quality forages she has available. I tend to call it stockmanship while others call it abuse. Maybe the buffalo always had 5# of grain everyday from the Indians substinence garden. Cattle and grass are a renewable resource. | |
