Nebraska | I’m a steel post and guardrail/cont fence do it once and do it right kinda guy. Was curious about the different methods used to set posts in concrete for a straight fence with added top rail. In the past I’ve set posts to the correct height by running a stringline over the tops then filling hole with concrete before finalling using level for side to side straightness. Some guys leave posts long, concrete then in then cut to height after cement cures. Also seen holes filled with concrete first, guide wire stretched then posts set into concrete and adjusted for levelness and height that way. I’d be leary of this if not using a top rail or post cap as moisture would be trapped inside the post with nowhere to escape. How bout using a laser transit for height? I’m always looking for a better way to do things more efficient. Thanks guys and gals!
